Druing WWII Luciano made a deal with the U.S. government. ​The deal had to do with Luciano providing the U.S. navy intelligence from German and Italian agents. In return Luciano would have a chance to be a free man again. Although Luciano did not really help the navy they gave him a choice to move to Italy exiled from the U.S. to be a free man again. On February 10, 1946 Luciano sailed for Italy never to see the U.S. again. On January 26, 1962 Lucky Luciano passed away  from a terrible heart attack at Naples International Airport. 300 people attended his funeral, his body was walked through the streets of Naples on a black horse. He was buried at St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
